Chipotle Mexican Grill today announced it is testing Power Up at Chipotle, a new afternoon offer of a taco with any protein for $2.50 each.1 It is available for in-restaurant guests from 2 to 5 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, at locations across Kansas City, Mo., Orlando, Fla., and Tampa, Fla., through June 2. Power Up at Chipotle offers guests a new way to snack and recharge with real ingredients.
“As more guests turn to restaurants for snacks, we’re looking at how Chipotle can fit into those moments,” said Stephanie Perdue, Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing, Chipotle. “When many snacks rely on artificial ingredients, Chipotle offers a different kind of boost—real food made without shortcuts. Power Up at Chipotle makes it easy to grab something quick and satisfying, whether you’re heading to practice, between classes, or meeting up with friends.”
Meeting the Afternoon Snacking Moment
Snacking is now a daily habit in the U.S., with 90% of consumers eating outside traditional mealtimes, according to Datassential.2 Younger consumers are leading the shift, and 52% of consumers say 2 to 5 p.m. is their peak snack window. Power Up at Chipotle meets this demand with a convenient and delicious option during the afternoon lull.
Spotlight on Single Tacos
Chipotle’s customizable single tacos offer a flexible, flavorful option for any occasion. Power Up at Chipotle highlights this offering and invites guests to mix and match any protein, including limited-time Chipotle Honey Chicken, and enjoy tacos as a quick bite.
Chipotle will leverage its stage-gate process to listen, test and learn from customer feedback, and iterate before deciding on a launch strategy.
